In 2022, the Japan-based global corporation Nikon ventured into the Additive Manufacturing market by acquiring SLM Solutions, a prominent German-based metal Additive Manufacturing machine OEM. AMPOWER was entrusted with the task of supporting the Nikon Team throughout the acquisition process and conducting a comprehensive commercial due diligence of the target company.

AIRBUS is one of the pioneers in the introduction of Additive Manufacturing technology for both spare parts and structural parts made of metal. Since the beginning of 2019, AMPOWER has taken on the task of training the engineers at the global AIRBUS sites in the new production technology.

BASF 3D Printing Solutions GmbH is one of the leading material suppliers for filaments and powders in additive manufacturing. With the patented Ultrafuse® metal filament, the company has developed a new material that makes it possible to produce metal parts on almost every FDM printer. In this project, AMPOWER carried out an extensive study to investigate the possible application scenarios directly with potential users and developed a market entry strategy together with BASF.

BOBST is one of the world’s leading suppliers of equipment and services to packaging and label manufacturers in the folding carton, corrugated board and flexible materials industries. BOBST sees advantages in metal Additive Manufacturing and is on a path of evaluating the technology. AMPOWER is supporting BOBST by Know-How transfer and providing training for the worldwide engineering. The 2 day training session enables engineers to understand the advantages and limitations of the technology and utilize it to the full potential.

EXONE go to market strategy EMEA

EXONE is the leading supplier for metal Binder Jetting technology. The company has developed several systems for direct and indirect printing of metal and sand components with a strong global market position. The project aim was to develop a go to market strategy to scale up the direct metal Binder Jetting business in EMEA. AMPOWER provided market analytics, application analysis and best practices to successfully penetrate the European market and strengthen the global positioning of EXONE as the leading Binder Jetting supplier.

Technology study for ARCAM EBM/GE ADDITIVE

The objective was to determine the manufacturing costs of different powder bed systems for acetabular implants. The study considered machine investment and material costs in varying degrees for the competing technologies. The Electron Beam Powder Bed Fusion technology of the market leader ARCAM is characterized by cost advantages due to the high build-up rate. It turns out that the laser beam systems, even though there are now several beam sources, still cause significantly higher costs for endoprostheses of this geometry. The study results help ARCAM develop new market segments. Since 2016, ARCAM is part of GE ADDITIVE.

EN 9100 implementation for Additive Manufacturing at Oerlikon

OERLIKON AM EUROPE GmbH (a company of OERLIKON GROUP) is one of the leading service providers in Additive Manufacturing. The aim of the project was the implementation of aviation standards into the quality management and the production. Thereby, the company’s management system was certified according to the aerospace standard EN 9100. Because of the successfully completed project, the site is now in a position to produce additively manufactured components for aerospace customers.

Industrial additive solutions from TRUMPF

TRUMPF Laser- und Systemtechnik GmbH is known as a renowned machine manufacturer of Additive Manufacturing systems. The TruPrint 3000 from TRUMPF is a system especially designed for use in regulated industries such as aviation. Through the joint project with AMPOWER, TRUMPF can offer its customers a system solution that significantly simplifies the entry into the manufacture of aviation components.
