Strategy Reference: HP 3D Printing go-to-market strategy

In 2013, HP introduced its Multi Jet Fusion technology, empowering customers to leverage Additive Manufacturing for industrial polymer production. AMPOWER supported HP in executing an application-centric, customer-success-driven go-to-market strategy. M&A Reference: Prismore Capital and Nikon SLM Solutions

In 2023, AMPOWER advised the successful acquisition of the 3D printing assets of Adira AddCreative by Nikon SLM Solutions, further advancing their roadmap for ultra-large-format L-PBF systems. The acquisition brought another level of ultra-large format architecture into Nikon SLM’s portfolio, complementing and accelerating the industrial maturity already demonstrated by the NXG platform. This was a strategic fit for both organizations: Adira AddCreative, then owned by Sonae Capital, gained an industrial partner with the global scale and engineering depth necessary to bring its technology to market; meanwhile, Nikon SLM Solutions strengthened its leadership position in high-productivity metal AM systems for aerospace, defense, energy, and advanced space applications. Two years later, the acquisition has proven a strong success: the combined Nikon SLM Solutions and Adira AddCreative engineering teams have advanced the technology significantly, with growing market validation from sector-defining organizations. Early interest from leaders such as ArianeGroup and Rocket Lab reflects the demand for ultra-large-format metal additive solutions capable of delivering repeatability, qualification readiness, and real industrial throughput, requirements Nikon SLM Solutions is uniquely positioned to meet due to the maturity and installed base of the NXG platform.

Due Diligence Reference: Nikon Ventures takeover of SLM Solutions

 

In 2022, the Japan-based global corporation Nikon ventured into the Additive Manufacturing market by acquiring SLM Solutions, a prominent German-based metal Additive Manufacturing machine OEM. AMPOWER was entrusted with the task of supporting the Nikon Team throughout the acquisition process and conducting a comprehensive commercial due diligence of the target company.
