Basis for the AMPOWER Report 2022 are over 300 personal interviews as well as secondary research from available sources. The personal interviews were conducted directly by AMPOWER staff. The respondents were typically the respective Additive Manufacturing managers or directors with good insight into the technological as well as economical company figures. More than 23,000 data points were collected.

However, the system suppliers that contributed direct input for the AMPOWER Report 2022 over 90% of the worldwide installed base of Additive Manufacturing systems. Secondary sources such as indirect data sources, press releases, financial reports, etc. were used to provide coverage of all installed machines. The buyers, or users, that contributed direct input for the report represent 10 % of the worldwide installed base of Additive Manufacturing systems.

Our goal is to provide the AM experienced user with deep insights into current and expected future market data, but also provide the inexperienced reader with technological background on the different current AM technologies and those of potential future importance.
The first edition of the AMPOWER Report with a focus on the metal market only was released in 2019. Since 2021, AMPOWER includes metal and polymer materials.
