Report Methodology
Thorough cover of metal and polymer AM market
Basis for the AMPOWER Report 2024 are over 300 personal interviews as well as secondary research from available sources. The personal interviews were conducted directly by AMPOWER staff. The respondents were typically the respective Additive Manufacturing managers or directors with good insight into the technological as well as economical company figures. More than 33,000 data points were collected.
A highly dynamic and growing industry is difficult to cover exhaustively. However, the system suppliers that contributed direct input for the AMPOWER Report 2023 over 90% of the worldwide installed base of Additive Manufacturing systems. Secondary sources such as indirect data sources, press releases, financial reports, etc. were used to provide coverage of all installed machines. The buyers, or users, that contributed direct input for the report represent between 5-15 % of the worldwide installed base of Additive Manufacturing systems.
Report History
Why this report?
Additive Manufacturing is characterized by a high dynamic in technological and market development. This dynamic shows in nearly monthly market entries of new system suppliers in established AM technologies such as Laser Beam Powder Bed Fusion as well as the introduction of unique and proprietary Additive Manufacturing principles. To navigate in this environment, a detailed understanding of the different technologies and their capabilities as well as their impact on the overall market development and revenue share is important.
Within our projects we realized the difficulties our customers have to get independent and trustworthy data on the state of the AM industry for metal and polymer applications. This led to AMPOWER’s decision to combine our network and profound experience in the AM industry as well as our technological know-how and create the AMPOWER Report. Our goal is to provide the AM experienced user with deep insights into current and expected future market data, but also provide the inexperienced reader with technological background on the different current AM technologies and those of potential future importance.
The first edition of the AMPOWER Report with a focus on the metal market only was released in 2019. Since 2021, AMPOWER includes metal and polymer materials.
